Shreveport Man Tasers Officer... Gets Arrested

SHREVEPORT, LA- You might say this goes under the "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" category. On July 6th, 2023, Shreveport Police Officers were called to an assault and battery call in the 1200 block of Oakland Street. On arrival, officers contacted two male family members that had been in a physical altercation. On initial investigation officers determined that William Cooper (2-8-02) struck the victim in the face causing a laceration.

As officers were speaking to Cooper, he lunged at one of the officers with a Taser and struck the officer with the Taser. The officer was able to defend himself and take Cooper into custody.

Cooper was charged with one count of felony battery on a Police Officer, one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, and one count of simple battery regarding the initial offense. The officer is expected to recover.

We are required to remind that all persons on innocent until proven guilty.
