Shreveport Man Arrested in Weekend Stabbing
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes investigators have jailed a man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times this weekend.
On Sunday (8/22/21), just after 5:30 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to reports of a woman screaming for help inside of a residence in the 400 block of Abilene Street. Arriving officers heard the screams, and upon entering the home observed 64 year-old Ivory Hamilton on top of the 88-year-old female victim, stabbing her with a butcher knife. Officers took action immediately and following an intense struggle, were able to disarm Hamilton and take him into custody. The woman was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital with serious injuries.
Following interviews with investigators, Hamilton was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Detectives commended the patrol officers and added that their actions ultimately saved the victim’s life.
