Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the job market, and plenty of people in Shreveport are wondering what that means for their future. The good news is this: not every job is easy to replace. In fact, some careers may become even more valuable as AI keeps spreading into offices, customer service, and computer-based work.

Tech guru, Kim Komando said economists are calling this moment a “blue collar spring” and added, “while AI is eliminating white collar jobs, the trades are booming and the paychecks are following.”

She also warned, “if your job lives entirely on a screen, AI is already doing a version of it cheaper and faster.”

What Jobs Look Safe from AI Right Now

Komando pointed to jobs that still depend on real-world skill, quick decisions, and physical work. Jobs deemed “safe from AI” included electricians, plumbers, mechanics, HVAC techs, heavy equipment operators, line workers, police officers, and firefighters.

Komando summed it up this way: these are “jobs that require real-time judgment, fast-changing environments, and hands that touch things.”

That hits close to home in the Shreveport-Bossier area, where a lot of families already understand the value of skilled labor. From construction sites to repair shops to public safety, these are jobs that do not just happen on a laptop. They require presence, expertise, experience, and the ability to respond when conditions change fast.

What Shreveport Workers Should Do Now

This does not mean every office job is doomed. It does mean workers may need to think differently. If your work can be copied by software, automated by a chatbot, or handled by a lower-cost system, it may be time to add skills that make you harder to replace.

That could mean learning a trade, getting certified in a hands-on field, or building expertise that combines technology with in-person problem solving. People who can manage equipment, repair systems, serve customers face-to-face, or make judgment calls in real time may have a stronger future than they realize.

The Big Takeaway for Shreveport Workers

One of Komando’s most memorable lines was simple: “AI cannot unclog your drain. It cannot rewire your panel.” She also said, “The new job security, a truck, license, and a skill set, no algorithm can do.”

For Shreveport workers, that may be the real lesson. The safest path forward may not be chasing the newest tech trend. It may be building the kind of value a machine still cannot match.
