Shreveport Felon Found Guilty in Caddo Court for Gun Case
A Shreveport felon had his day in court after being caught by Shreveport Police with a gun.
During the trial, six witnesses were called to the bench to prove that Jeremy Jerome Jackson had a gun while he was the passenger in a car that SPD tried to stop. The driver of the car took off and led SPD on a three minute chase, speeding through neighborhoods, and running stop signs.
The car ran out of road when they hit a dead-end, and both Jackson and the driver bailed out of the car and tried to run away. SPD were able to catch them both after a short chase, and Police found a handgun on the ground in the path Jackson ran down. Police did a DNA test on the grip of the gun, and it matched Jackson.
It took the jury less than an hour to find Jackson guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Jackson was convicted of aggravated battery back in 2012, making him a felon.
When Jackson returns to court in July he is facing up to 20 years in prison during sentencing.
