It's becoming a regular thing around here, but it will never get old. It seems like every time a major awards show comes around, someone from the Shreveport area is on the nomination list.

This week, the 2026 Grammy Award nominations were announced, and it's happened again. More Shreveporters have now found themselves as nominees for some of the biggest awards in entertainment.

Who From Shreveport Got A Grammy Nomination This Year?

This time, it's none other than Shreveport's very own guitar hero, Kenny Wayne Shepherd knocking out another Grammy nomination.

Kenny Wayne (along with Bobby Rush) is officially nominated in the Best Traditional Blues Album category. But he's up against some other heavy hitters, including Buddy Guy and Charlie Musselwhite.

Shepherd and Rush are nominated for their album 'Young Fashioned Ways', which was released back in March. It featured a single titled 'Who Was That' which got selected for the soundtrack of Mark Wahlberg's film Flight Risk.

This Isn't Kenny Wayne Shepherd's First Rodeo At The Grammys

If you think this is a new thing for him, you haven't been paying attention. This nomination is just the latest in a long, long, line of them.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been previously nominated five times, making his 2026 nomination his sixth. That's a half-dozen times he's been nominated for a Grammy...absolutely unreal. While Kenny Wayne doesn't have the most all-time Blues Grammy nominations (check out B.B. King), his six nominations are one of the most impressive modern totals. Hopefully this nomination secures his first win.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Is Pure Shreveport

He's not just someone who passed through Shreveport for a few years in his 20s, he's a real hometown kid. Graduated Caddo Magnet High School and everything.

Shepherd's connection to the music world is a deep part of Shreveport history. His father, Ken Shepherd, was a staple on local radio and a major concert promoter in the area for years. This unique upbringing meant the future star was surrounded by legendary musicians, getting a backstage pass to the blues world while he was still a kid.

That access led to a life-changing moment in Shreveport. The story is practically local legend...at just seven years old, Shepherd met blues icon Stevie Ray Vaughan at a concert. After seeing Vaughan play, Shepherd was inspired to pick up the guitar, teaching himself to play and becoming a prodigy. He was soon playing at local venues and festivals, like the Red River Revel.

He's Not The Only Louisiana Talent On The Grammy List

This year's Grammy list is actually packed with Louisiana talent, including others with Shreveport ties.

Internet sensation/actress/pop star Addison Rae scored a major nomination, validating her evolution from social media to music. Rae is nominated in the Best New Artist category. While born in Lafayette, Rae's connection to Shreveport is rock solid. She spent her formative years here attending Calvary Baptist Academy, where she was active in extracurriculars, especially cheerleading.

Another familiar Shreveport name is on that same 2026 Grammy list...Dez Duron. Most people remember him as the Evangel quarterback-turned-star-singer on NBC's The Voice. Duron's Grammy nod is comes in an ensemble nomination for Best Musical Theater Album for the Broadway performance of Maybe Happy Ending. Duron plays one of the leads in the program.

You Can See The Grammy Nominee Right Here in Bossier City

Here's the best part...you don't have to travel to LA or New York to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd perform. He is coming home for a show.

He's bringing his Ledbetter Heights 30th Anniversary Tour to Margaritaville in Bossier City. You get to see a hometown hero, who is also a 2026 Grammy nominee, play in his own backyard.

The show is coming up on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Tickets are on sale right now. With the Grammy Awards presentation happening on February 1st of next year, we might be welcoming home a Grammy Award Winner at Margaritaville.

Legendary Musicians Who Rocked The Hirsch In Shreveport

Here's a sample of the legendary musical acts who have played Shreveport's Memorial Coliseum over the last 60 years. The Hirsch was basically the homefield for bands like Van Halen and ZZ Top, who regularly put the Hirsch near the top of their tours. For that reason, we're actually not going to feature them on this list, because they were basically "house bands" for Shreveport...and that's NOT a bad thing.
