Who Are the Top 25 Highest Paid Shreveport Firefighters?

SHREVEPORT, LA - Shreveport leaders spent several weeks at the end of the year tightening the belt, trimming about $4 million from the budget. But they did not cut funding for our first responders.

Shreveport firefighters officers were given a 13% across-the-board pay increase a couple of years ago by the city. These folks also get regular increases from the state. But the salaries are still not quite as competitive as other cities in our region.

Shreveport has 17 firefighters making more than 100 thousand dollars. There are 10 police officers making salaries in the 6 figures. There are 50 firefighters making more than $90 thousand a year. The police department has about 25 officers making more than $90 grand.

According to Ziprecruiter, the average firefighter pay in Louisiana is $50,971.

What States Have the Highest and Lowest Paid Firefighters?

Washington state is the highest in the nation with an average salary $67,510.The average pay for a firefighter in Texas is $55,532.

Only 2 states pay less than Louisiana on average. Georgia is 2nd to latest with average firefighter pay at $50,330. Arkansas is last on the list with an average salary of $49,289.
