Shreveport Fire Department Battle Weekend Apartment Fire

Shreveport Firefighters responded to the 8000 block of Chalmette at the Orleans Square apartments for a report of an apartment fire on Sunday December 17th. The fire was reported at 4:56 a.m. and fire units from Fire Station 3 arrived on the scene at 5:05 a.m. and reported smoke and flames coming from a downstairs unit.

Fire crews were able to confirm that all occupants had escaped the home and quickly extinguished the fire. One person from the apartment was treated on scene by SFD paramedics for possible smoke inhalation.

There were 9 – Fire Units and 25 – Firefighters dispatched to the fire. No other injuries were reported from the occupants or firefighters. According to fire investigators this fire began from a cooking accident with food on the stove.
