Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Choking Pregnant Woman
Shreveport Police have made an arrest following a near month-long search for a man suspected of brutal domestic violence.
Traveon Zachary is accused of an attack on a pregnant woman during a child exchange. During the attack, the victim says Zachary choked her. Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Crimes and Domestic Violence Unit investigated, and were able to put a warrant out for Zachary for one count of Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation and one count of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment.
Yesterday, members of SPD's Warrants Unit were able to find Zachary on West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. SPD attempted to arrest Zachary which led to a standoff. Zachery eventually came out of the house holding a baby in an attempt to use it as a shield. Officers acted fast, and were able to arrest him while keeping the baby safe.
From SPD:
"Zachery was arrested on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with Resisting Arrest.
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting victims of domestic violence."
