Shreveport Man Wanted for Theft in Check Fraud Case
Shreveport Police are asking for the public’s help locating a man who is wanted in connection with a fraudulent check.
Early this year, Vernon Lee Dubose entered In & Out on Linwood Avenue, and cashed a check made out under the name Pickens Insurance Services. A few days later, the check was returned by the bank leaving the business with a financial loss.
Detectives contacted the owner of Pickens Insurance Services in Arizona. The owner explained that the business had dissolved a year ago, and that he was the only employee of the company.
He also told SPD that the business never issued paper checks, conducting all transactions digitally, and confirmed that no check was ever written to Vernon Lee Dubose, nor did he know who Dubose was.
Investigators gathered evidence from the In & Out, including:
-A copy of the fraudulent check.
-Bank documentation showing the loss.
-Surveillance images of the suspect negotiating the check.
-Identification used during the transaction.
Shreveport Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to Dubose's arrest.
From SPD:
"Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Dubose for one count of Monetary Instrument Abuse (LA R.S. 14:72.2).
Dubose is considered a career offender, and detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating him.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300 or Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. Tips can remain anonymous."
