
Shreveport Man Arrested for Battery Involving a Hammer
Shreveport Police responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at the Advance Auto Parts on Mansfield Road.
Officers learned that a man and a woman had been chased into the business by a man with a hammer. Witnesses reported that the suspect had been chasing a man who had been in the parking lot with a female when the confrontation began.
SPD Officers identified the suspect as Weldon Trant. Witnesses and evidence revealed that Trant had chased the victims and damaged the man's car with a hammer during the incident.
SPD determined that Trant had punched the woman in the face during the altercation. Further investigation revealed that the woman had a protective order against Trant at the time of the battery.
Trant fled the scene before SPD could show up, but Officers were able to find him and take him into custody.
Weldon Trant now faces these charges:
· Simple Battery of a Dating Partner
· Violation of a Protective Order
· Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
