
Shreveport Man Arrested for Burglary & Pulling a Gun on a Relative
Shreveport Police officers arrested a local man Wednesday afternoon following an armed burglary in the 2800 block of Lakeshore Drive. The incident began just before 4:00 p.m. on March 20, 2026, when authorities received a report of a burglary in progress.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers met with the homeowner, who had discovered two men inside his residence actively removing property. The homeowner immediately identified one of the intruders as a distant relative, identified by police as Derion Spearman.
Suspect Produces Firearm During Confrontation
The situation escalated when the homeowner confronted the two men. According to police reports, Spearman produced a firearm before fleeing the residence. Responding units immediately established a perimeter and began canvassing the neighborhood.

Officers successfully located both suspects and the firearm nearby. During the subsequent investigation, the second individual told police that Spearman had lied to him, claiming the house belonged to a relative and that they had permission to be inside. Consequently, the second man was released without charges.
Charges and Outstanding Warrants
Derion Spearman was taken into custody without further incident. He faces charges of Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Assault. Investigators also discovered that Spearman had several outstanding warrants related to prior narcotics offenses.

Spearman has been booked into the local correctional facility. While an arrest has been made, the Shreveport Police Department stated that the investigation remains active as they finalize the details of the case.
