Shreveport Police were called to West 77th Street to a domestic violence suspect who had reportedly returned to the victim’s home after assaulting her earlier that morning.

The victim told SPD that the man had strangled her and bitten her fingers during an earlier altercation. While officers were on the way to the scene, dispatch told responding Officers that the suspect had multiple outstanding warrants, and was likely to take off running when they pulled up.

When Officers got to the scene, they spoke to the victim, who directed them to the back of the home where the suspect was believed to be hiding.  During the search for the suspect, Officers heard the suspect running out the back door. Officers saw Xavier Davidson, running through the backyard toward a fence line.

Officers took off after Davidson who jumped multiple fences and ran through yards and eventually onto West 78th Street. After a pursuit, SPD caught Davidson and arrested him. Further investigation confirmed that Davidson had allegedly strangled the victim and bitten her fingers during the earlier incident.

Officers saw visible injuries, including marks on the victim’s neck consistent with strangulation and bite marks on her fingers. Davidson was also found to have multiple warrants, including:

• Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation

• Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment

• Domestic Abuse Battery (additional counts)

As a result of this incident, Davidson has been charged with:

Battery of a Dating Partner by Strangulation

• Two counts of Home Invasion

• Resisting an Officer

Davidson has four prior convictions for domestic abuse battery, highlighting a continued pattern of violent behavior.
