What Action Is Council Considering?

The Shreveport City Council is considering a measure to move $800,000 dollars from the reserve fund to the Property Standards budget to cover the costs of demolitions at several apartment complexes. The bids have come in for some of the work, but the city needs to find the money to pay for the work.

These are not the only problems for Shreveport. Water was recently turned off at The Pines, The Jolie and Villa Norte because of seriously delinquent water bills. The city teamed up with several local agencies to find housing for all of the residents who were left stranded. The landlords collected the money from the tenants for the water bills, but never forwarded that money to the city.

KEEL News asked Councilman Grayson Boucher if some of this money used for demolition can be recovered from those landlords. He tells us he wants to ask the City Attorney what can be done to recoup the money.
