Shreveport Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect Following Long Search
Late last year, Shreveport Police officers were notified of an armed robbery that happened on Apache Trail.
The victim was walking toward his home with a friend, also accompanied by an man known to him as Demetrius Darnell. While on Apache Trail, Darnell reportedly pulled a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and demanded his phone.
Darnell then pistol whipped the victim with the gun. The victim fled toward a nearby residence in an attempt to escape, but Darnell chased him, located him under a carport, and hit him multiple times before taking the victim’s iPhone and fleeing the scene.
Through further investigation, detectives were able to develop probable cause and secured a warrant for Armed Robbery for Darnell.
Demetrius Darnell has been arrested in connection with the previously reported armed robbery.
During his arrest, Darnell was slapped with additional charges, including possession of narcotics, multiple counts of resisting an officer, and battery on a police officer.
Further investigation showed that Darnell also had outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions.
This remains an active investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
