United States Senator Bill Cassidy talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his recent legislative efforts to end surprise medical bills. "Dr. Bill" also discusses his chairmanship of the Senate's paid family leave work group and his introduction of legislation to end gag clauses preventing patients from knowing costs of their medical procedures.

The senior Senator also mentions his work to lower taxes on Gold Star Families and his opinion on the recent Louisiana "heartbeat" abortion bill, signed into law Thursday by Governor John Bel Edwards.

The new law, that easily passed both houses of the Louisiana legislature, is similar to bills recently passed in a number of other states and has already been met with legal opposition by pro-abortion forces. Cassidy tells KEEL listeners that, in his opinion, this right-to-life legislation is part of a push-back movement against the increasingly radical abortion views of the Democratic Party.
