State Fire Marshall Butch Browning talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the latest developments in the investigation of the Natchitoches baby who died after being found badly burned.

The arrest of the baby's mother, Hannah Barker, was the second in the case. From nola.com:

The mother of a boy who died after being found badly burned in Natchitoches July 17 was booked Wednesday (July 25) with principal to first degree-murder. Hannah Barker, 22, is the second person arrested in connection with the child's death, Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office reported.

On Monday, the fire marshal's office announced the arrest of Felicia Marie Nicole Smith, 25, who was booked with the first-degree murder of Levi Cole Ellerbe. In a news release issued Wednesday afternoon, the fire marshal reported that Smith and Barker knew one another prior to the homicide and that additional charges against Smith are expected.

The case remains under investigation by the fire marshal and the Natchitoches Police Department. No further details on the case are being released at this time, the fire marshal said in its Wednesday news release.

Browning says the investigation, involving the Natchitoches Police and other law enforcement agencies is ongoing and there are others who are considered persons of interest.
