State Senator Ryan Gatti talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the status of his bill, which would allow teachers and school administrators to join students in prayer, with the permission of their parents.

Gatti explains that his bill, "Senate bill 512, is the result of the lawsuits that were filed in my district against Webster Parish and Bossier Parish. The students were praying so  much and the teachers were praying with them so much that they got a nice little citation from the federal government ."

Gatti adds that his father used to say, "If you're going to get in trouble, make it something good and that's what those students have done." In explaining his bill, he adds, "That's what the courts have said, parents hold the right, that the parents right is sacrosanct. We've had people from both sides look at this 'permission' slip and say, 'Wow, this changes everything.'"
