A generous corporate donation is being made to Project Celebration, a non-profit organization managing the primary domestic violence program in Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto and Webster Parishes.

Project Celebration took over responsibility for the Safe House this year, after Providence House said it could no longer incorporate the program into its original mission.

Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover says operating costs have been a big issue, and he has been looking for public and private contributions to help cover expenses.

"This has to be a collective priority not only for victims of domestic violence who reside in our city, but also for those victims who live in nearby cities and parishes but need these critical services,’’ Mayor Glover said in a City of Shreveport news release. "We have to address this issue with public and corporate dollars so we don’t soon find ourselves in this predicament again where the possibility even exists that a city our size might not have a safe place for battered women and men to go to find help."

He'll announce the big donation at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, on the 2nd floor of Government Plaza on Travis St.
