At least 4 people have been shot in southern Louisiana and three people are dead.

Lafourche Parish Sherriff's Office spokesman Brennan Matherne said in a news release Thursday the suspect killed himself and the suspect's wife was found dead in their home.

Lafourche Parish Councilman Louis Phillip Gouaux and daughter Amanda were injured in the first shooting in Lockport, and are in critical condition, Matherne said. Gouaux's wife was killed.

The second shooting was in Raceland, where Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital administrator Milton Bourgeois was shot and killed. His wife was injured and is in stable condition.

The suspect's wife, Denise Taylor Freeman, was found dead in their Houma home. Her cause of death wasn't known, Matherne said.

Ben Freeman was found dead in his vehicle.
