Caddo Parish School Superintendent Dr. Theodis Goree has cancelled classes at Northwood High School, Donnie Bickham Middle School, and Blanchard Elementary for today, January 8, 2014.  These three schools do not have water.

The Blanchard Water System has experienced several leaks during this week's freeze and that has resulted in a system wide pressure loss. Blanchard Mayor Johnny Digilormo says "we've had a lot of leaks during this cold and when water pressure gets so low we have to shut the system down to let it catch back up."

Customers may be experience service interruptions until they’re able to restore system pressure. For residents who still have water, you are under a boil advisory which will remain in effect until rescinded by the Blanchard Water System.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one clean container to another.)

Upon notification from the Office of Public Health’s State Regional Laboratory that the samples collected from the water supply have been found to be safe, the State Health Department will notify the water supply of the sample results. Upon such notification, the Blanchard Water System will then rescind the Boil Advisory and notify its customers that the water has been found to be safe.
