UPDATE:
Since originally posting this story we've found that there will be a discussion regarding a proposed new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant location during Bossier's MPC meeting Monday, October 17, 2022. It's listed on the agenda as a proposal by Texstock Development. You don't see mention of 'Popeyes' until you get to page 230 of the 312-page document.
Original Article:
We sure hope this rumor is true! We've been seeing plans for a new chicken restaurant in the Haughton area pop up online.
If this rumor pans out, we'll be getting a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen on the corner of HWY 80 and Stockwell Road across from Circle K and Louisiana Downs.
Here's the post that caught my attention online this morning.
After reading through the post and seeing the Metropolitan Planning Committee mentioned, I started searching through the minutes from their meetings and upcoming agendas that were available online. I also checked for information via the Bossier Police Jury online. While I couldn't find any mentions regarding a new development at that location for the MPC's upcoming meeting Monday, October 17th, I did reach out to a member of the MPC Board. As soon as we hear back, we'll make sure to let you know what we've been able to learn and/or confirm.
In case you were wondering, Popeyes got its start 50 years ago in 1972 in New Orleans. Its original name was 'Chicken on the Run.' The first franchise location was opened in 1976 and in 1984, the restaurant went global when it opened a location in Canada. As of last year, there were 3,705 Popeyes locations around the world!
We love that chicken from Popeyes!
