Bossier City is finally getting a local favorite! The wait is over. Southern Classic Chicken is opening at long last just east of the Red River.
What's the story behind the success of Southern Classic Chicken?
For the past 35 years, Southern Classic has been a staple in north Louisiana. The restaurant was founded in 1989 by brothers Howard and Leon Fanning. But it wasn't until 2019 that the Fanning family decided to give franchising a try. Despite it being a crowded market, Southern Classic Chicken now has 17 restaurants located throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas with plans to expand even more with new locations in the New Orleans area, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.
Southern Classic Chicken is solid financially and has plans to grow even more.
According to QSRWeb.com, Southern Classic Chicken, even in the beginning stages of franchising, has $40 million in sales systemwide. The stores average about $1.8 million each. Nick Binnings, formerly with Another Broken Egg, and Tom O’Keefe, formerly who has worked in the past with Church's Chicken, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and Smoothie King are heading up franchising efforts for the Fanning family.
Where will the new Southern Classic Chicken be located in Bossier City?
ShreveportSecrets.com reports that the new Southern Classic will sit on the corner of Airline Drive and Old Minden Road, where there used to be a satellite lot for Chevyland. While we haven't been able to find out when the new restaurant will be opening, we know that the lines are going to be long! This is one of those instances where if you know, you know. Southern Classic has a nearly cult-like following.
