The Barn Swallow nests are back under the Jimmie Davis Bridge.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development spokeswoman Cindy Dorfner has told KEEL News that because the birds are federally protected, if they lay eggs in those nests, they can't be disturbed until the eggs hatch. That will delay the planned Jimmie Davis Bridge rehabilitation project.

Officials will be back out today trying to move the nests, but it will tie up traffic a bit. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Arthur Ray Teague, north- and southbound, from noon until 5 p.m. today near the bridge.

The roadway won't be completely shut down, so traffic will still be able to pass through the area.
