The body of a woman reported missing by her roommate two days ago has been found in Old River Bayou.

According to a news release from the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office, the body of 55-year-old Phyllis Lawrence was discovered this morning by a Shreveport police officer who returned to the former segment of Red River in the Anderson Island neighborhood to continue a police search late yesterday.

Lawrence was last seen alive at around 5:00 Tuesday evening. She was sitting in a lawn chair outside the fenced area of her backyard in the 2600 block of East Cavett Drive. She wasn't there two hours later when her roommate checked the heavily-wooded area that slopes steeply to the water's edge.

Police searched the neighborhood and bayou into the evening, but couldn't locate Lawrence at that time.

Caddo Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma found no obvious signs of foul play in Lawrence's death, but he plans an autopsy to determine the official cause.
