A woman whose body was found off of Marshall Street south of downtown Shreveport Sunday, August 25, 2024, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

 

Brenda Gilmer, 58, was found dead just after 6 p.m. in the 500 block of 4th Street, which runs south off Marshall Street between Marshall and McNeill streets. She had suffered blunt-force trauma, though the manner and cause of death remain under investigation.

 

She was positively identified through fingerprint comparison. Her death continues to be investigated by Shreveport police, to whom public queries and tips should be directed.

 

An autopsy was ordered.
