Michael Corbin On Cross Bayou: ‘This Whole Process Is Backwards’ [VIDEO]
Shreveport City Councilman Michael Corbin talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the latest developments in plans for Gateway Development Consortium's Cross Bayou Project.
Corbin tells KEEL listeners that the council's 4-3 vote okay a resolution to add six milestones for GDC to meet to the Memorandum of Understanding "has no teeth." The Councilman says, "The council cannot force the mayor to sign something. This whole process is backwards.Normally a developer or group would come to the administration, present a plan, and if the administration liked it, they would bring it to council and we would begin (discussion) and come up with a plan to move forward. This has been totally, totally backwards."
Corbin, who was a "no" vote on the MOU amendment, said he never saw the changes until the council meeting began: "The public had no chance to see it and there was no opportunity for public discussion."
