Larry English, representative of Gateway Development Corporation, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the status of the 10 year, $1 billion Development plan for downtown Shreveport's Cross Bayou area,

English trumpets recent meetings with "the White House," Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards and numerous public and private officials, but says that GDC "is still a long way from executing agreements with anybody." English adds that the next step for his group is to "sell the project across the city."

The project, says English, would feature a combination of municipal and private office space, plus retail and residential areas and be a public / private partnership. But he adds that support must begin at home. "I actually challenged a group of local, wealthy individuals to say, 'The first 10 million investment dollars in this project nees to come from the private sector in Shreveport."
