With medical marijuana being now legal in Louisiana, the program to to dispense the drug is falling into place. But there does seem to be a few misconceptions and misinformation regarding how the drug will be distributed. 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty, along with morning show producer Matt Parker, bring listeners up to date on the latest developments, specifically the differences between clinics and dispensaries.

From Matt Parker and KEEL News:

"The facility coming to Shreveport on Kings Highway is a dispensary / pharmacy. The clinics are run by physicians who are licensed by the state to write prescriptions for medical marijuana treatment. While doctors at these clinics can write prescriptions for medical marijuana, area patients cannot fill these prescriptions because the actual dispensary / pharmacy in our area will not be open until December or January.

Total Health Clinic in Bossier and Shreveport's The Healing Clinic are now open. The actual marijuana pharmacy / dispensary will be operated by Doug and Jennifer Boudreaux, operators of Shreveport's Compound Pharmacy. Boudreaux' Hope Pharmacy will be located at 1410 Kings Highway, Suite A."
