The city of Ruston, and the Louisiana Tech campus, suffered major damage during an overnight storm. Cleanup efforts are in full force today. KEEL News caught up with Mayor Ronny Walker who has been fielding calls from across the city about damage and power issues.

Mayor Walker says

We are so appreciative of everyone’s willingness to help, but for the moment PLEASE stay off the roads. The added traffic is making it difficult for City crews and first responders to get where they need to go. We will organize a clean up effort soon, but the City’s priority is getting trees cleared off the roads and power lines secured for the safety of our residents.

One of the hardest hit locations in the Ruston area was the Louisiana Tech campus, and primarily their sports complexes. The Louisiana Tech baseball field, softball field, tennis courts, and soccer complex have all been destroyed.
