The application deadline for the federal Blue Roof Program is quickly approaching for those still looking to protect their properties in 25 parishes after Hurricane Ida slammed South Louisiana.  Lt. Colonel Robert Warren Green says, “people have to sign up if they still need support through either the website at blueroof.us or the phone number 888-ROOF-BLU by this Thursday.”

Green says contractors have already installed at least 10-thousand no-cost Blue Roofs in the parishes impacted by Ida, and have at least 40-thousand more to go.  Lieutenant Colonel Green talked about the pace of work that contractors installing Blue Roofs have achieved since the program began after Ida.  He says contractors “are now fully mobilized, so over the last few days we’ve been averaging just under a thousand roofs a day and pretty soon we’ll be at our ten-thousandth roof we’ve had installed,” according to Green.

Colonel Green says to keep in mind that the Blue Roof program doesn’t cost the affected homeowner anything to have installed.  He tells us, “the big thing is that this is a free federal program, so if anybody is asking for any money to install a free roof on your house this is not part of the Blue Roof program and should not be associated with that.”

Again, the deadline to apply to take part in the Blue Roof program is this Thursday, September 30th.
