Mayor Appoints Commission on Race
Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins has announced the formation of a Commission on Race. He has named 26 local residents to this panel.
The Mayor says this panel will "engage in meaningful dialog aimed at bettering race relations in Shreveport, as well as identifying measures that foster unity and greater understanding."

Perkins says this panel's work will begin in June and they will make recommendations on how to "build trust between law enforcement and the communities of color." But the Mayor says this commission will also evaluate the disparities in health outcomes exposed by COVID-19 and will explore other initiatives that can improve race relations in Shreveport.
