Man On Bicycle Ran Over By Dump Truck In Downtown Shreveport

The Shreveport Fire Department responded to a call of a man hit by a large dump truck Tuesday afternoon.

Fire Dept. units responded at 2:06  to a report of a man on a bicycle hit by a truck in the 200 blk. of McNeil.  Units arrived on scene at General Scrap Yard and found a man that had been run over by a truck.  Witnesses state that the victim was leaning against the truck when the driver entered the truck to leave.  Due to the height of the cab and the hood of the truck the driver was unable to see the victim. 

Once the truck began to move the victim was unable to get out of the way of the truck and was run over and drug by the truck.  Fire Dept. Paramedics arrived to find the man’s injuries to be fatal and did not transport the victim.  It is possible that alcohol was involved in the accident and the Shreveport Police is continuing to investigate this fatality.
