[UPDATE] Police Release Identity of Bicyclist Who Died In Weekend Hit And Run Crash
[UPDATE] Police have released the identity of the homeless man who was hit by a pick-up truck over the weekend, and died later at the hospital. He's 71-year-old Samuel Leon Smith. Detectives are still searching for the pick-up truck that hit him.
[ORIGINAL STORY] A man is dead following a hit-and-run crash in east Shreveport. Police arrived in the 2400 block of Southern Avenue to find a middle-aged black male, possibly a member of the homeless community, lying in the road. His bicycle was found nearby.
A witness reports hearing what sounded like tires squealing, followed what appeared to be a grey or silver pick-up truck leaving the area. The bicyclist was taken to LSU Health Shreveport, where he was pronounced dead.
