The parents of the 7 year old boy who drowned in Shreveport's drainage system are suing the city. Daysean Combest was swept away by a rain swollen ditch near his home during heavy rainfall on August 1st of 2017. The incident took place just before 3pm on Orla Ave, near Emery and Quinton streets, near Fair Grounds Field.

The boy's body was eventually found two days later in a bayou 3 miles south of where he disappeared.

In the wrongful death suit, the family claims the city knew about the dangers of leaving the culverts and ditches uncovered and failed to act. The suit also claims the city also knew that drainage ditches and culverts are attractive to a young child.

The boy's parents are suing the City of Shreveport for unspecified damages.
