The coronavirus pandemic continues to wreck the restaurant industry across the nation, and here at home in Lubbock, there's no exception.

On Thursday, May 21st, the Facebook page for Cantina Laredo restaurant announced that the modern Mexican cuisine eatery would be permanently closing its doors.

The social media post reads: "We are saddened to announce we have decided to permanently close Cantina Laredo Lubbock. This wasn’t an easy decision to make."

It went on to say, "We’ve enjoyed serving all of our wonderful guests during our 4 years here in Lubbock. Thank you to our amazing staff for working hard everyday to serve the Lubbock community. We will miss seeing you all!"

This comes less than two months after the restaurant temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The city has lost another venue at which to enjoy dining with friends and family. Hopefully, this will be the last casualty now that restaurants can begin to allow 50 percent occupancy back into dining rooms thanks to the second phase of Texas Governor Greg Abbott's plan to reopen businesses.
