The 4th annual Shave Day is coming up in March at the BRI Atrium on the LSU Health Shreveport campus. Members of Geaux Bald are encouraging residents to join them at this unique fundraiser, which supports the St. Baldrick's Foundation and its dedication to childhood cancer research.

According to an LSU-HS news release, teams from each of the medical school's four classes and the School of Allied Health Professions have already formed, with 35 people committing to shaving their heads. So far, the groups have raised $26,000, and students are hoping to surpass their $40,000 goal.

"There are so many ways to get involved," said Katie Clark, a second-year medical student and Geaux Bald president. "People don't have to shave their heads to join a team or attend the event, and of course we welcome any donation amount."

The Geaux Bald 2016 Head Shaving Day runs from 2-6 p.m. Friday, March 11.
