Les Miles' LSU Tigers are a close second in the college football season's initial playoff rankings. The unbeaten Bengals trailed top ranked Clemson and came in just ahead of defending champ Ohio State at #3 and Alabama at #4.

The biggest surprise on the first vote was putting the once beaten Crimson Tide in the four spot, ahead of nine unbeaten teams, including #5 Notre Dame.

This Saturday, LSU goes on the road to take on Bama in Tuscaloosa.
