Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Nungesser posted this message on his Facebook page:

Thank you to everyone for your prayers. Today I tested positive for #COVID but have very mild symptoms. Will be resting up and feeling better soon! As we head into the holidays, my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by COVID

The Advocate reports Nungesser is the fourth statewide elected official to contract the virus.

Attorney General Jeff Landry and State Treasurer John Schroder and have also battled the virus. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy also tested positive for the virus recently.

Nungesser was just on KEEL Wednesday morning to talk about the dispute with the Mayor of New Orleans over the planned New Years Eve celebration.

Nungesser oversees the state's tourism agency and is now in isolation.
