Honda Suspension Recall 2026: What Louisiana Drivers Need to Know
If you drive a Honda, you might want to double check some data to see if you're included in the latest massive recall from the automaker.
Honda is recalling over 880,000 SUVs and trucks due to a rear suspension defect. Louisiana is not included on the official recall list, because the issue is linked to states that heavily use road salt...but that does not mean local drivers are clear from danger.
Many Honda vehicles currently registered in Louisiana were originally purchased as used vehicles. Cars frequently cross state lines through auction houses, dealership trades, or online retailers like Carvana and CarMax. Some Louisiana residents may have moved from one of the included states, and still drive the Honda vehicle they had on the road in their previous state.
That means there are going to be Louisiana Honda drivers who should probably double check.
What Is Actually Wrong With These Vehicles
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) discovered that the rear subframe on these specific models can quickly corrode. This corrosion can cause the rear suspension components to fail entirely...leading to an immediate loss of vehicle control.

The recall impacts several models produced by the automaker over the last decade. They may have been purchased as recently as 2023. Here's the list of vehicles included:
Honda Pilot, 2016-2022 model years
Ridgeline, 2017-2023 model years
Passport, 2019-2023 model years
Acura MDX, 2014-2020 model years
What Honda Drivers In Louisiana Should Do
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is expected to mail official notification letters to impacted owners in July of 2026. Owners can also check their specific vehicle identification number (VIN) on the federal recall website to see if their car originated in an affected state.
If a vehicle is included in this safety bulletin, the manufacturer requires that it be taken to an authorized dealer. Mechanics will inspect the rear subframe and either install a reinforcement kit or replace the entire component completely free of charge.
Its really easy to check to see if your vehicle is included. Any local Honda dealer can help you with the process if the web portal isn't working properly.
