One of the five lock and dam structures on the Red River will soon have abbreviated operating hours, but, it's only temporary. The U-S Army Corps of Engineers has to do some more work on the Lindy Boggs lock and dam -- the one farthest away from us. So, starting June 6th, the lock will only be operational between 5:30 in the afternoon and 7:00 in the morning Monday through Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, it will still have normal 24-hour operations. The Corps says the closure is needed for repairs and does not create any concerns for the environment or flooding. The work is expected to be finished on the 22nd.
