Red River United Teacher's Union President Jackie Lansdale talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about John Bel Edwards call for raises for teachers and whether the amount suggested by the Governor will get the organization's support.

Lansdale tells KEEL listeners that the Governor's offer of a $1,000 a year raise is a good start, but, "That's where the conversation begins. It needs to be more than that. There has to be a funding stream attached to it and I think that would make a lot of difference."

Lansdale continues, talking about recent teacher walk-outs in other states. "Do I think that we're going to get to the legislative session without a day of reckoning? I do not believe that. No."
