Shreveport authors Gary D. Joiner and John Andrew Prime will sign copies of their new book, "Legendary Locals of Shreveport," from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at Barnes and Noble, 6646 Youree Drive, in Shreveport.

The book, which profiles more than 100 notable Shreveporters living and dead, was released Feb. 8 through Arcadia Publishing and sells for $21.95.

Joiner, a noted military historian and author, is chair of the Department of History and Social Sciences at LSU in Shreveport, director of the Red River Regional Studies Center there and owner of Precision Cartographics. He is the author of or contributor to more than two dozen books on subjects ranging from the Civil War and the Red River to lost local history and celebrated area ghosts. Prime, a reporter, columnist and editor at The Times in Shreveport more than 37 years, is the co-author of a previous Arcadia book, "Barksdale Air Force Base."
