Convicted Rapist Sentenced To Life In Prison
A Shreveport man who was convicted last summer of raping an intellectually disabled teen was sentenced Thursday, February 2, 2017, to life in prison.
37-year-old Timothy Deshun Kelly will serve his sentence without probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Caddo District Judge Katherine Dorroh sentenced Kelly for the April 2015 assault on a 15-year-old female victim. At the original trial in August of 2016, a Caddo Parish jury found Kelly guilty of third-degree rape.
According to john Prime, spokesman for the Caddo District Attorney's Office:
Following the conviction, the Caddo Parish District Attorney filed an habitual offender bill alleging Kelly had three prior felony convictions, two of which were for drug distribution. After an evidentiary hearing, Judge Dorroh found Kelly guilty of being a fourth felony offender and imposed the life sentence.
