The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is planning to open the water control structure on D'Arbonne Lake near Farmerville soon after Labor Day to draw down the lake. It will be lowerred to five feet below pool stage and remain lowered until December 15th. The drawdown, which is being done in coordination with the Bayou D'Arbonne Lake Watershed District will allow for shoreline maintenance and assist with the control of nuisance aquatic vegetation. LDWF says the lake won't be closed to fishing during the drawdown, but anglers are being urged to be careful because boat lanes won't provide normal clearance for underwater obstructions.
