Louisiana's Commissioner Jay Dardenne talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the differences between the Senate and House versions of a budget for the state and whether he thinks a compromise can be reached before Monday's midnight deadline.

Dardenne tells KEEL listeners that he is optimistic that a deal between the two houses can be reached: "We hope it will be well before midnight. That's the absolute last moment. There's a lot left to do. There's not that many instruments left to deal with, so the whole focus will be on reaching an agreement on the budget and reaching an agreement on the revenue measures."

The Commissioner, however, adds that it's up to the House of Representatives to alter their budget to match the Senate's version: "That's absolutely correct. The House took the position it's our way or the highway.and the Senate said that's not the way this process works."
