Louisiana Drunk Driver Wrecks into Building and Flees to Bar

In Slidell, Louisiana, a recent incident involved the arrest of a suspected drunk driver who crashed their vehicle into a building at the intersection of Front Street and Fremaux Avenue.  WWL4 reported that the collision caused significant damage to an antiques and restoration storefront, impacting several pieces of antique furniture awaiting repair.

Where the suspected drunk driver went next might surprise you. Instead of calling authorities or going home, they drove to a nearby bar.

Upon receiving the report on a Saturday night, Slidell Police quickly responded to find the storefront severely damaged by the crash. The vehicle responsible for the collision had fled the scene before their arrival.

However, police followed a trail of shattered glass, transmission fluid, and vehicle parts, officers traced the wreckage to a nearby bar. At the bar, they located both the suspect and the damaged vehicle, bringing the search to a close.

The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found at the bar and subsequently arrested. Charges include Driving While Intoxicated (D.W.I.), Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Hit and Run. The swift actions of law enforcement brought a resolution to the alarming incident, preventing potentially severe consequences.

Thankfully no one was injured or harmed in this incident. However, it is a reminder that we need to take driving under the influence seriously, especially during the holiday season.

Calling an Uber or phoning a friend is always better than risking it. It might be inconvenient to be brought back to your car the next day but certainly not as inconvenient as dealing with the consequences of drinking and driving.
