Shreveport Man Arrested for Beating Victim with Firearm
SHREVEPORT, LA- Arrest Made in Aggravated Battery Incident
On April 19, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a call in the 700 block of W. 73rd Street regarding a male individual brandishing a firearm and threatening another individual. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim had sustained injuries to the head as a result of being struck with the firearm.
Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 44-year-old Glen Merrell on charges of aggravated assault. It was revealed during the investigation that Merrell is a convicted felon, further complicating the case. Merrell was also arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The victim, fortunately, is expected to make a full recovery.
The Shreveport Police Department would like to remind the public that many felony convictions revoke an individual’s right to possess or own a firearm. This is both a state and federal law that will be handled accordingly.
