The LSU Women's Basketball team enter the 2023-2024 season as the defending National Champions. Coming off an epic run through the NCAA Tournament, and a overpowering win against Iowa in the National Championship Game, the Tigers aimed to reload instead of rebuild. They brought in one of the top college transfers, and added one of the nation's best recruits.

That recruit happens to be from Parkway High School in Bossier City.

Of course we're talking about Mikaylah Williams, the 6-foot guard from the Parkway Panthers. She was ranked as the top recruit in the country by numerous national recruiting services, and will make an instant impact on the team.

In their pre-season freshman preview, the Associated Press said of Williams:

"This 6-foot guard was ranked as the nation’s top prospect in her class by multiple recruiting services. She was named the Morgan Wooten national player of the year her senior season as she led Parkway High of Bossier City, Louisiana, to a state title. She was Gatorade’s Louisiana high school player of the year each of the last two seasons. Williams scored 20 points Wednesday in LSU’s preseason exhibition victory over Loyola (Louisiana)."

Not to mention the fact that LSU attracted one of the top NCAA transfers with former Louisville star Hailey Van Lith. While at Louisville, Van Lith was named All-ACC twice, and was on the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2021. Last year she averaged 36.9 minutes-per-game, and scored 19.7 points-per-game.

But the main focus of LSU's game will still be budding superstar Angel Reese. During the NCAA Championship run, Reese was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament, and was the emotional leader for LSU on the floor. She was a unanimous First Team All-American last year, from numerous sources. Coming into her senior season this year, she's been named a Preseason AP All-American, and the Preseason SEC Player of the Year.

The whole program is headed up by the legendary Kim Mulkey, the 4-time National Champion Head Coach. She technically has two other NCAA National Championships (one as a player and one as an Assistant Coach) and an AIAW National Championship as a player too. She will once again be guiding the LSU program towards another championship.
