Watch Out Shreveport: THC-P Is a Serious Concern
Walk into any vape shop in Shreveport, and you'll probably see legal THC gummies, including some products labeled 'THC-P' - a cannabinoid you've probably never heard of, but it's quickly becoming a concern for many. Cannabinoids are a type of chemical associated with cannabis, think THC and Delta-8. THC-P is one of the latest cannabinoids that's legally available at smoke shops in Louisiana and known for its higher potency. To make sure Shreveport doesn't green out, we've got all of the important information to keep you safe.
THC-P's Potency & A Louisiana Legal Grey Area
THC-P is a more recent discovery, found in cannabis plants, and it is sometimes advertised as being 33 times stronger than THC. Because THC-P exists in the realm of CBD derivatives, meaning it's legal under State and Federal law for sale and consumption. Though the legal grey area most Delta-8 products exist in means that there are no standardized metrics for testing, which is why some packages might advertise THC-P as only 5 or 15% more potent.
Shreveport Retailer Weighs In: Reported Side Effects of THC-P
King Vaperz on Youree Drive in Shreveport weighed in and emphasized that the cannabinoid is incredibly potent and not recommended for people who have very little experience using cannabinoid products. While King Vaperz noted they aren't aware of any specific side effects unique to THC-P beyond its higher potency, it's important to know that the extreme potency can significantly amplify the typical side effects of THC, leading to more severe psychoactive reactions.
The only side effects that can be confirmed for THC-P are the same ones that come with the standard THC cannabinoid, which may be worsened with the higher potency. Known side effects of THC can include:
- Disorientation
- Dizziness
- Impaired memory
- Impaired muscle coordination
- Paranoia
King Vaperz made clear that their store is always sure to give a warning to customers before they purchase any products that have THC-P.
