So what is Krampus? Well, if you're not familiar, the concept isn't new. It's actually as old as Santa Claus himself. In fact, he's part of the original Santa Clause entourage. Britannica describes Krampus as:

"popular legend, a half-goat, half-demon monster that punishes misbehaving children at Christmastime. He is the devilish companion of St. Nicholas. Krampus is believed to have originated in Germany, and his name derives from the German word Krampen, which means “claw.”

Around the state of Louisiana, Krampus' surge in popularity has been welcomed with open arms. The state is actually home to the largest Krampus parade in the United States, and has celebrations in multiple cities. Including in the Shreveport-Bossier area.
